Guidelines for responsible gaming business
In October 2023, the Gaming Control Authority (GCA) organised meetings with licensed gaming operators on responsible gaming.
The GCA experts presented the Responsible Gaming Operation Guidelines (hereinafter – RGOG) for business. The RGOG aim to prevent compulsive gambling. They focus on broadening of the scope of gaming operators' responsibilities on the subject of problem gambling.
„The companies not only create the conditions for gaming. Each company has the power to help manage the consequences of compulsive gaming“, commented the situation experts of the GCA in their presentation. „We therefore encourage companies to take note of the actions they can take to achieve this.“
The main actions presented and discussed during the meetings were as follow:
- Providing honest and clear information about the gaming rules and probabilities of winning;
- Monitoring and responding to risky gaming behavior: informing about increased time and money spent on gaming, and signposting to problem gambling support options;
- Proactively publishing reports about the risks of problem gaming on one website;
- Providing tests to assess the personal risk of problem gambling;
- Adding the need for a customer to set the limits for the amounts that could be lost;
- Training of staff responsible for problem gaming prevention.
„These guidelines should help to reduce the involvement in gaming with the consequences of risky gaming behavior. We hope that gaming operating companies will adapt them and make active use of them“, the GCA experts concluded.
