On 9 December 2020 on the initiative of the Gaming Control Authority a remote meeting with representatives of the Criminal Police, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, and the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Lithuania was organized. The meeting was dedicated to discussing the steps taken by the Council of Europe to promote the ratification of the Macolin Convention, also to enhance cooperation in the fight against sports manipulation.
During the meeting, specialists of the participating institutions shared relevant information. Further cooperation and possible actions for the ratification of this convention in our country were scheduled as well.
The attention was paid to the information that the Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS) has been given a key role in this area of the Convention. It should be noted that since 2018, the Gaming Control Authority is cooperating with GLMS as an international partner at the gambling regulators level in match-fixing prevention implementation.
